Pawtector UK is a small, family run company who has been distributing Soft Claws for over 5 years. We really love the product and believe there are enough cat owners that would benefit from Soft Claws too.

As much as we love our pets, we can all admit that one thing we don’t find endearing is the damage that they can cause by scratching your carpet, flooring and furniture. Although they do not mean any harm, this behaviour from your pets can be a costly inconvenience, and getting your cat or dog to stop scratching is extremely difficult because it is a natural behavioural trait and takes much patient training in order to get them to stop.

As well as your house and possessions, your pet’s claws might be damaging their own bodies. If your cat or dog is constantly licking, biting, scratching or chewing themselves or pulling out their fur, the first thing to do is visit your pet’s veterinarian. This behaviour is often an indication of different health conditions that need medical attention. Your pet may be suffering discomfort or pain as a result of a more serious problem, not just a minor skin condition, so please do not try to diagnose the problem yourself. See your vet.

Usually when the ailment troubling your cats and dogs goes away, so does the self-mutilating behaviour. However, sometimes the behaviour continues as a habit even though the health problem is long gone. Many cats and dogs have excess nervous energy and have nowhere to vent the stress, so they develop a habit of licking themselves until the skin is raw. Research also shows that some cats or dogs actually learn this behaviour because their owners make such a fuss over them whenever they indulge in such activities.

What to do?

Whenever the cat or dog begins to lick, scratch or chew themselves, try making a very short, sharp, loud sound just enough to startle the cat or dog into stopping and looking around to see what happened. It may seem like you have to constantly distract them, but realise that this behaviour is often just as hard for a cat or dog to stop as it is for humans to stop habits such as fingernail biting or cigarette smoking, so be patient and keep trying.

To help your reduce the problem in the mean time, Soft Claws nail covers will help to abate the scratching problem. Soft Claws provides a simple, cost effective and safe way to ensure your valuables stay protected while your pets learn to adjust their behaviour. Not only does the product provide a safe way of protecting your pet and your valuables, these stylish accessories are a way to give your pet a touch of glamour.

Soft Claws are also available for dogs and, like their feline equivalent, safeguard the furniture, family and friends, whilst allowing the pet freedom to exercise its natural instincts. When skin conditions are causing injury from hind claw scratching, Soft Claws offer immediate relief and prove themselves' an effective answer to the problem. Soft Claws® are a great alternative to cat declawing or rehoming.

Soft Paws™ helps protect against the following situations:
  • Damage to household surfaces such as floors, doors, screens, walls and furniture.
  • Canine skin conditions that are aggravated by scratching.
  • Protects you from accidental scratches from Dog
